Improving confidence in soft tissue management around implants

Dr Kirpal Dhaliwal completed the Soft Tissue Around Dental Implants course with BPI Dental Education & Training in February 2021. He shares his motivations for enrolling on the programme and reflects on how he found the training:

“I wanted to improve my skills regarding soft tissue management around implants. I had been offering implants for more than 10 years – over this amount of time you get know exactly which areas you are most comfortable with and which you would like to develop and enhance. For me, soft tissue management was something I was a skill I wished to improve and, given how important this can be for implants in the aesthetic zone, I sought training.

“A couple of colleagues from my practice knew Dr Boota Ubhi and were taking the Soft Tissue Around Dental Implants course, so it came highly recommended. I has also come across Boota on the dental lecturing circuit, so I had a good idea of his level of expertise.

“The programme was really great. It definitely covered all the topics I expected and hoped it would. The tuition was also quite versatile, recapping simple stuff and extending to more complex things, making it suitable for clinicians with moderate to advanced experience with implants. I particularly liked the interactive element of training. You never know it all and there is always something new learn, so being able to participate in open discussions meant there was plenty to take away.

“Throughout the course, I found Boota to be very welcoming, down-to-earth and approachable, which really ensured a good learning experience.”

Since completing the programme, Kirpal has been impressed with the on-going support that has been available for delegates.

“Both during and after the course, the support has been very good,” he says. “There is a WhatsApp group from my cohort that is still active and provides a great platform to ask questions and share experiences as we take on more complex cases in practice.

“I have definitely achieved what I set out to achieve – this course exceeded my expectations. I now have a much greater awareness of potential soft tissue problems that can occur before, during and after implant surgery. I feel that I have improved my approach and there are certain things I now do slightly differently, adopting some of the techniques taught on course. As such, I would definitely recommend the Soft Tissue Around Dental Implants course with Boota.”
